how to have balance and discipline in keeping watch ??

quote from
www.kingwatch.co.nz/Prophetic_Ministry/watchmen.htm

quote "
The place of watchmen is on the wall, looking out into
the direction that he is pointing. The can be lonely,
discouraging work. Jesus is pleading with his watchmen to
stay on the walls, where he needs them to be.

Many watchmen are down in the city chatting with friends,
because they got lonely. Others are on the conference
circuit, where the money is better. Some are busy
trolling the internet, but that is not the same as
listening to the Lord. Others grew tired and have gone to
sleep. Others have given up, because they are weary of
their warnings being rejected.

The watchman should not be in the city eating and
drinking with the town's folk. He should be out on the
watchtower looking into the night   "quote"

From Steve Snow:

Sep 20, 1999

I sense in the Lord that the Apostolic reformation is
about to burst forth upon the church. There will be 2
streams - the one - will seem prominent with many "big-
name" people declaring their apostolic credentials. The
other stream will be the "unknowns" those who have been
trained and developed over time - those who are
"nobodies" in themselves.

I also sense a warning - the apostolic stream - the
prominent ones by those who are known to many - will be
used by the enemy to turn the church leadership into a
dictatorship. I see in this stream a return to the same
conditions that occurred in the 2nd C AD when local
elders - called Bishops became higher ranking regional
leaders and eventually - one became the Pope. Beware of
that spirit because the new apostolic will take of the
shepherding heresy and magnify the wrong spirit -
claiming apostolic authority. The Lord though is raising
up the apostles - his apostles - those called, those
created, molded over time, those who are humble, those
who are broken for upon these will the Lord's authority
be poured out. These are the ones who understand
authority and will give their very lives for the church
of God should that be required. The Lord says - resist
the apostolic that seems right - the one that seems as if
it will succeed - resist the push for power and see His
heart. In the true apostles - the Lord's heart will be
seen - the cross will be seen and the love, mercy,
compassion and determination will be seen.

The Elijah Task: Not (Exactly) A Review

(
“To be a watchman or a witness is to see what God is
doing. We use the word witness too often only to describe
our speaking to others. Rather it means one who watches
God in operation among men.” ~John Loren and Paula
Sandford, ‘The Elijah Task: A Call to Today’s Prophets
and Intercessors‘

Synopsis (from Amazon):

It illumines the Bible like a searchlight, pointing out
the mysteries of God. There still is much confusion and
misuse of the office and the responsibilities of the
prophet and the intercessor in the Christian arena. John
and Paula Sandford explain how prophets are called and
trained. With a great passion and urgency, they challenge
all intercessors to realize and understand their vital
role in the world today and how closely they must work
with the prophets. John and Paula Sandford clearly
explain:

What it means to be called and trained as a prophet or
intercessor
How to understand dreams and visions and hear directly
from God
Why it is important for the body to work in unity

This book is filled with spiritual discoveries that will
effect dynamic changes in every reader.

active in the churches in music and Christian education

My thoughts:

The Big Beef. Early on in the book, the authors asserted
something to the effect that a prophet “must stand mute
before the will of another.” It’s the idea that a
prophet should not beat people over the head with his or
her message, or impose his or her will on another. This
concept is in line with the biblical principle that “a
servant of the Lord must not strive” (2 Timothy 2:24),
and within this context, I wholly agree with what John
and Paula Sandford presented.

My Big Takeaways. The point is not that people know that
prophecy is one of my spiritual gifts, the point is not
that I must always share what I’ve received, the point is
not to beat people into my way of thinking (or to
persuade them that my way of thinking is God’s way of
thinking). The point is to direct people to Christ and
His riches, and to do it humbly, recognizing I’m every
bit in need of Him as anyone else. The point is to
intercede for people, to boldly bring them and whatever
circumstances have been revealed before the throne of
grace, expecting God to act, because after all, He
brought them to you. The point is to present the truth
lovingly and graciously and if necessary indirectly
(asking questions, using
metaphors/analogies/symbols/allegories). The point is to
recognize that humans like to come to their own
conclusions and to give them freedom to do that. (I
think this is the best application of standing “mute
before the will of another”).

Task: A Call to Today’s Prophets and Intercessors‘
